As part of the second edition of the Festival of Arts in Schools, the Clément Janequin Prize is launching its call for applications for the first European competition dedicated to school choirs. This international event aims to promote artistic excellence, the diversity of repertoires, and the collective commitment of young singers, in a spirit of support, sharing, and personal growth.
Eligible sets
- School choirs composed of students aged 10 to 18
- Tolerance up to age 21 for a maximum of 15% of the workforce
- Number of singers: 6 to 60 (excluding conductor)
- Amateur ensembles affiliated with a school
Selection
- 24 chœurs européens seront présélectionnés sur vidéo au printemps 2026
- The selected groups will participate in the competition in person in Poitiers.
Competition procedure
- Saturday, June 5, 2027 (afternoon):
Free program of 18 to 20 minutes presented in one of the four partner venues.
Each venue designates one finalist. - Sunday, June 6, 2027:
Final of the four finalist choirs on the stage of the TAP, program of 20 minutes. - Monday, June 7, 2027:
Team building and meeting day at Futuroscope Park for all participants.
Artistic and technical conditions
- Piano and stage provided in each room
- Soundtrack playback possible without voice amplification
- A free-form repertoire, respecting copyright and imposed time limits.
Jury and evaluation criteria
An internationally recognized jury will evaluate:
- vocal and musical quality,
- artistic choices and program development,
- the stage presentation and spatial arrangement,
- the consistency and commitment of the service.
Awards and distinctions
- 1st Prize: €5,000
- 2nd Prize: €2,500
- 3rd Prize: €1,500
- 4th Prize: €1,000
- All choirs will receive a level diploma (Bronze, Silver or Gold).
Candidacy
The application file will include:
- a choir identification sheet,
- an artistic and educational presentation
- a video link that complies with the specified instructions,
- information relating to staff numbers and ages.
Deadline and submission methods: until June 30, 2026 on the registration page.
The Clément Janequin prize
The Clément Janequin Prize is a European competition for school choirs, held in Poitiers and Futuroscope as part of the Arts in Schools Festival. It brings together 24 school ensembles selected for the artistic and educational quality of their projects. The choirs perform in semi-finals held at several venues, before a final at the Théâtre Auditorium in Poitiers. The competition offers students the opportunity to perform in professional performance conditions.
